"You" and "your" refer to: The individual/s whose information we collect and hold for our purposes.
Collection of information
We collect personal information such as your name, address, contact details, date of birth and occupation and income to allow us to provide you with correct, accurate and appropriate advice.
It may also be necessary for us to collect more sensitive information regarding your health, pastimes and activities, and limited details on your parents and relatives in order to complete contracts of insurance, investment or finance as requested by you.
There may also be instances where the state and/or federal governments require us to collect certain personal information in order to meet any statutory requirements.
In all cases we will not use any information collected from you for purposes other than in the arrangement or ongoing servicing of insurance, investment, or credit contracts unless we have your permission.
You have a right not to disclose information to us, however where requested information is not disclosed we may need to limit any advice and provide warnings as to the possible consequences of not providing certain information.
Disclosure of information
In meeting our obligations to you it may be necessary to disclose your personal and sensitive information to contractors and advisers who assist us in running our business. These would include companies within the Dealer Group who act as our principle broker or licensee and whose responsibilities include monitoring the adviser's compliance and business practices. In all circumstances where these contractors or advisers become aware of your information strict confidentiality arrangements apply, and they also remain bound by the Privacy (Private Sector) Amendment Act 2000 (Amendment Act).
We may also be obliged to disclose your information by law to fulfill regulatory conditions or under Court Orders, eg, to our regulator for audit purposes.
Should we determine to sell or lease part or all of our business to another party, such sale or lease would result in your information being disclosed to this other party. In this situation the other party would be required to satisfy us that they fully meet the Amendment Act requirements.
